Born on October 30, 1964 in the United States, in Concord, New Hampshire, Howard Henry Lederer, better known simply as Howard Lederer, is a professional poker player, best known for his achievements in the World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour. In addition, Lederer is known for having contributed to a series of books on poker strategy and being a commentator on the game for a while.

LIFE

Before being known as "The Professor" in the poker world, Lederer grew up in Concord, New Hampshire, and in his youth was introduced to the world of cards by his family. As a child, his father taught him how to play chess. After his teenage years, Lederer cultivated his interest in playing competitively and steadily honed his skills.
 
Also, it's worth mentioning that his sister, Annie Duke, is also a professional poker player. However, his father, Richard Lederer, is a writer and former professor of linguistics at St. Paul's School. CAREER WITH POKER

After graduating from high school, Howard turned to chess in New York. During this period, Lederer enrolled at Columbia University, but ended up dedicating all his time to studying and improving his poker skills. So, Lederer ended up being helped by his sister, Annie Duke, to play in Billings, Montana.
 
In 1986, Lederer made his big debut in a major poker tournament, the World Series of Poker. That year, Lederer participated in the Main Event, but ended up being eliminated in fifth place and raising the amount of US$ 10,000. After that, Lederer decided he would move to Las Vegas, and in 1993 Howard focused his life on poker.
 
In the same year of 1993, Lederer returned to the WSOP and made a total of eight final tables until the year 1999. However, he was never successful in winning the prize and the tournament bracelet.
 
That said, at the turn of the millennium, in 2000, Lederer did well in the $5,000 Limit Omaha Hi-Lo edition, and took in the sum of $198,000 for the prize, plus his first World Series of Poker bracelet. The following year, Lederer returned to the WSOP and again racked up the $5,000 Deuce to Seven Draw edition and won $165,870 plus his second bracelet of the series.
 
After that period, Lederer took the opportunity to venture into the tables of the World Poker Tour. Therefore, in the years 2002 and 2003, Lederer won two titles on the World Poker Tour, even winning two titles in 2004 in the series.
 
After four years, Lederer ventured into the Aussie Millions High-Roller table and pocketed $1 million Australian dollars. However, the spotlight turned to Lederer in the year 2010, when the grinder participated in the edition of the World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions, but ended up in second place and raising the amount of US$ 250.000.
