Baldwin's history in the sport began when the young man attended Oklahoma State University. By that time, Baldwin had already shown great skill for the game, something that came to light in 1977. During this time, Bobby won his two bracelets at the 1977 World Series of Poker. The first of them was at the $10 Deuce to Seven Draw 1,000 event and second in the $5,000 Seven Card Stud event.

However, the biggest achievement in the player's career was winning the main event of the 1978 edition of the World Series of Poker, where he won the title and the prize of $250,000. At the time, Baldwin managed to overcome the legends Ken Smith, Jesse Alto and Buck Buchanan, but to take the title, Baldwin still beat Lous Hunsucker and Crandall Addington in the heads-up of the edition.

At the time, Baldwin became the youngest player ever to have taken the title in the World Series of Poker Main Event, a feat only surpassed by Stu Ungar in 1980, Phil Hellmuth in 1989, Peter Eastgate in 2008 and Joe Cada in 2009. However, in 1979 Baldwin ventured back to the WSOP tables and was present at the $10K edition of the Deuce to Seven Draw event, where he won his fourth bracelet in the competition.

In his short journey through the WSOP, Baldwin has made a history that many players in the game envy. Winning four bracelets between 1977 and 1979, Baldwin was one of the few players to have won titles three years in a row. Among other things, Baldwin was also present in the following editions, staying in the years/positions: 1981 (7th), 1986 (16th), 1987 (21st), 1991 (29th), 1992 (15th), 1994 (24th) and 2009 ( 352nd).

It's worth mentioning that Baldwin was also present at the Super Bowl of Poker series of events, organized by Amarillo Slim in 1972. However, Baldwin didn't make a name for himself in the SBOP until 1979 when he won the $5,000 Seven Card Stud tournament.

For all his achievements, in 2003 Baldwin was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. His last record in a live poker event was in the year 2012. In the year of the "end of the world", Baldwin was present at the World Series of Poker, again, but in the Big One for One Drop event.

Other works

In addition to being a professional poker player, Baldwin also served as a casino executive. In 1982, the grinder was a consultant for the Golden Nugget casino, where after two years he was named president of the casino. Also, in 1987 he was selected to be the head of the Mirage casino. Eleven years later, Baldwin was named president of the Bellagio hotel and casino.
Later, between 1999 and 2000, Baldwin assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer of Mirage Resorts and after the merger with MGM Grand, Baldwin continued in elite roles, serving as Executive Director.

According to reports, Baldwin now lives in Las Vegas and owns a home in the Southern Highlands. As for his profits, it is speculated that Baldwin has earned more than $2 million in his active period starting in 2012. Unfortunately, the total amount of prizes Baldwin has earned on his journey to date is unknown.
