The history with poker

In the mid-1940s, in the form of poker, which held disputes with money at stake, participants could leave the games with their chips at any time they wanted. Analyzing this, Puggy, in the 50s, had the idea of the "freezeout", to create a new tournament. In the meantime, Pearson spoke with the legend Nick, The Greek, to better work out the plan. So The Greek passed on Puggy's plan to an extremely well-known casino owner, Benny Binion, to apply the game. Through this feat, at the urging of Pearson, Amarillo Slime and Doyle Brunson, Binion ended up founding the World Series of Poker competition in 1970, where the three players claimed the tournament would culminate in great action in the poker world.

That said, Puggy was present at the grand opening of the World Series of Poker, along with Amarillo Slim, Doyle Brunson, Sailor Roberts, Crandell Addingtone and Carol Cannon. On the occasion, Johnny Moss was voted the best player in the world in the edition, where the legend took the first World Series of Poker World Championship title.

However, the following year, Puggy clinched the series title in the 1971 Limit Seven-Card Stud Preliminary Tournament. Two years later, Puggy returned to those feats in the WSOP Preliminary Tournaments and earned more titles for the account. But it's worth mentioning that during the WSOP Main Event, which Puggy won, he managed to defeat the legend Johnny Moss with an "Ace" and a "Seven" of Spades, while Moss had in his hands a "King" of Hearts and a "Jack " of Swords. Through this feat, Puggy was the first player to win three consecutive World Series of Poker events. This record in question was broken by five players years later.

The person that Pearson was, he used to be considered a man who always valued playing the biggest games in town, both in poker rooms and on golf courses. Puggy had a trailer that in his painting had written: "I'll play any man from any land any game he can name for any amount I can count, provided I like it."

For his achievements, Pearson was nominated and inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 1987. But despite his achievements, Puggy was infamously abusive to people, particularly casino employees.
