"The time has come for me to say goodbye to gaming as a professional Counter-Strike player. It is with a heavy heart I am writing this, but as of right now, I have no longer the hunger and determination it requires to compete on top level. This game has been a huge part of my life for the past 10 years, and I feel this is the time for me to look for new horizons and opportunities. Future work can be both inside and outside the game. Time will tell."

In addition, Kjaerbye wrote that his ten-year journey in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was like "a ride on a roller coaster that went much more than I imagined when he started playing video games." Ending his note, the player took the opportunity to say that he was grateful to all the teams and colleagues who were with him in these ten years of activity.

STORY

The story of "Kjaerbye" began on the competitive scene in 2014. At the time, the young man played for Copenhagen Flames and had a good notoriety in the organization, causing him to be hired soon by Dignitas. However, it was in 2016, upon signing a contract with the Astralis organization, that the name "Kjaerbye" entered the history of CS:GO. Together with the Danish team, the player won several championship titles, including the World Eleague Major Atlanta, where he was declared as the best player of the edition. So far, "Kjaerbye" is the youngest player ever to win a major, aged 18 years and 277 days.

In early 2018 the player was hired by the North team. The news took all CS:GO fans by surprise, as the Dane ended up leaving Astralis suddenly, without much speculation about what happened. After that, both Astralis and North ended up going through ups and downs, but "Kjaerbye" still managed to shine in the North by winning the titles of DreamHack Open Tours 2018, DreamHack Open Valencia 2018, DreamHack Masters Stockholm 2018 and DreamHack Open Sevilla 2019. After that, the player ended up being hired by the FaZe Clan in 2020, a team in which he stayed for a short time, winning only the edition of Intel Extreme Masters XV - New York Online: Europe. In March 2021, "Kjaerbye" was hired by Hyenas.

Alongside Hyenas, the Danish player was facing great difficulties. The player's debut for Hyenas happened in the IEM XVI qualifiers, where the team ended up being eliminated in the position "17/32". In the last two participations of the team, in the Spring Sweet Spring #3 and European Development Championship Season 4, the team occupied the positions "19/20" and "5/8", respectively, for giving up their confrontations.
