What are the main markets to bet on MMA?
Basically, there are two types of markets that are references for MMA bettors. As in any sport, we have the traditional Money Line, which is nothing more than choosing which fighter will win the duel. It's as if in football you choose the winner of the match. Besides this one, we have the bets on Rounds (over/under). In this case, you choose how many rounds the fight will last. If you choose 2.5 rounds, it means that the fight will need to reach at least the 3rd round. I bet you remembered Over/Under in football, didn't you?

As we can see, these are basic bets, but we also have some markets that are quite explored in MMA. An interesting market is how the fighter will win the fight, for example: knockout, technical knockout, judges decision, etc.
How is a winner decided in a fight?
Knowing how a fighter can win, as given in the example above, helps a lot when choosing a duel to bet on, and consequently have greater chances of winning.
KO (Knockout): no secret, a fighter knocks out his opponent and that's it.
TKO (Technical Knockout): in this case, the referee or doctor ends the fight after seeing that one of the fighters is no longer able to continue the duel, either by being injured or being repeatedly hit without reaction.
Submission (Submission): when a fighter is trapped, unable to use his hands to react, he can end the fight by lightly hitting the ground or his opponent, confirming that he has submitted to the opponent.
Decision: If the fight lasts until the end, the winner will be decided by the judges (there are 3 in total). If all judges point to the same fighter, it is considered a unanimous decision. If only one of them scores a tie or chooses the other fighter as the winner, a split decision or majority decision win is declared. Finally, if two judges do not choose the same fighter as the winner of the fight, the duel is considered a draw.
DQ (Disqualification): if a fighter insists on violating the rules during a fight, the referee has the autonomy to disqualify him, thus suffering a defeat automatically.
How do rounds work in an MMA fight?
Each round lasts 5 minutes in MMA. The absolute majority of fights are made up of 3 rounds, thus reaching a maximum of 15 minutes. On the other hand, the title fights or that are considered as the main attraction of the event, have 5 rounds, and can reach up to 25 minutes of duels.
What criteria should you use when betting on the winner of a fight?
Knowing how to find value in the odds offered is something very important in betting, and in MMA fights it's no different. To be able to do this reading, it is essential to inform yourself about the athlete's history: his recent performances, his strengths, weaknesses, adaptation of different strategies during combat, preferred fighting style, his physical attributes, his classification in the category ranking , among others.
