Career in poker

After dropping out of university, Dwan began to dedicate himself to playing online poker. According to sources, Dwan started his journey with just $50 in the bankroll, and he devoted much of his time to playing sit-and-go tournaments, which are often more affordable in terms of cost. During this period, Dwan began to grow his bankroll and each time he was improving his strategies.

In mid-2007, Dwan ended up earning a handsome sum on Full Tilt Poker, where he snapped up a total of $312,800 for his bankroll. However, the player's greatest feat came the following year when he managed to secure the sum of $5.41 million to his account. It's worth mentioning that before the 2007 World Poker Tour, Dwan had a bankroll of $3 million, but ended up losing about $2 million in just four months. However, the player managed to recoup that money in about twelve months of poker work.

In 2009 Dwan lost a considerable amount again, where $3.5 million had gone out of his hands. However, the player managed to recover this amount in just six months. Due to his aggressive stance towards poker, Dwan's big downfall was yet to come.

In December 2009, Dwan took on Phil Ivey and IIari "Ziigmund" Sahamies, and ended up losing $2 million. In the aftermath, Dwan also lost $5 million at stake to Viktor Blom.

Live poker

As for his presence in live poker, there are records that Dwan attended some poker tables at the age of 19. According to information, the young Dwan participated in a Texas Hold'em tournament, where he ended up occupying the twelfth place at the table in the European Poker Tour in London, where he received the sum of US$ 12,398 for the feat.

In 2008, Dwan returned for a live event and managed to take the Aussie Millions A$3,000 Pot Limit Omaha runner-up and pocket $103,200 for the position. Meanwhile, in the World Series of Poker tournament series, Dwan appeared in the year 2008, in the $10,000 World Championship Mixed Event, and ended up being eliminated in eighth place along with the sum of $54,144.

In the same year, Dwan was present at the National Heads-Up Poker Championship, but it is not known how much money the player won, it is only known that he managed to beat Phil Hellmuth at the table. At the 2008 WPT Championship, Dwan finished in ninth place and took home the sum of $184,670.

Given that, it's surprising that at the age of 21 Dwan had already made millions from his poker games. However, these days, Dwan gave an interview saying that poker is not fun for him anymore, but he still plays with a certain frequency.

"A lot of the hours I play now, I'm not having fun. I obviously enjoy doing it a lot more than I would any other job, but a lot of times I'd rather be doing something else."
