Born on April 6, 1982 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States, Stephen O'Dwyer began his career as a poker player in 2003, at the age of 21. The trigger for the player to become a poker pro was to see Chris Moneymaker win the 2003 World Series of Poker event. During this period, Steve graduated from the University of East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, and worked as a broadcasting professional.

Within the university years, Steve ended up falling in love with poker more and more. The player always used to play at the $ 5 Thursday Night event on the university campus.
